Clean Your Indoor Air

clean your indoor air

According to the EPA indoor air is 2 to 5 times more toxic than outdoor air. By breathing clean indoor air, you can avoid allergies, headaches, eye irritations and fatigue. Here are some simple tips:

  • Start by ventilating your home and eliminate odors. Don’t mask them.
  • Baking soda neutralizes odors. Use as a gentle bathroom cleanser for sink and bath, diluted with water in a spray bottle for the floor. Sprinkle on your carpet before vacuuming.
  • Make sure your vacuum is maintained by changing filters at recommended intervals and replacing disposable bags before they’re two thirds full.
  • Rinse the canister on bagless vacuums once a month and clear debris from brushes regularly.
Consider purchasing an ionic air purifier.
  • Essential oils such as eucalyptus, lemongrass, oregano and myrrh are great natural air fresheners. A couple of drops in a diffuser is an effective way to clean the air.
  • Plants reduce the amount of air particulates. The Peace Lily, Ficus, Boston Fern and Bamboo Palm are just a few of many easy to care for oxygenating house plants. You will feel better in a house with clean air!
